Underglaze Surface Course, Saturday April 19th-May 24th 1-4pm
This six week class will focus on underglaze surface decoration techniques, including sgraffito, underglaze inlay, underglaze “watercolor” techniques, and underglaze pointillism. Juan will demonstrate how to transfer a clear outline to a clay vessel for those without free-handling or drawing experience.
Week 1- Throwing vessel forms for painting/decorating. Practice pointillism on bisque tile.
Weeks 2-Sgraffito and underglaze inlay
Week 3&4- Underglaze “watercolor” techniques in black and white underglaze
Week 5&6- Images in Color Underglazes

Clay and tools will be available for purchase
Clay-$24 per bag
Tools-$22 for beginner tool kit
In Addition to class time students are also allowed to work during open studio time through out the week which is 30 hours a week. Your instructor will give you the time at you first class meeting.
